Has Christmas left you feeling unfit, underexercised…..??

Amazing how that always happens….. The holidays start, the shopping begins and your regular routine for getting healthy goes out the nearest window.

The new snacks find their way around the house and before you know it Christmas time becomes a fantastic snacking time too. Naturally with the bustle of getting ready for the big event, buying presents, arranging decorations, erecting the lights, etc…. your regular exercise routine gets lower priority and shifts to second, third or fourth place.

Then along comes the Christmas dinners, lunches, new-year parties. Before you know it, you're back to square one, combating holiday stress and needing to work off those extra pounds and kilos.

So for those of you who just could not resist that extra mince pie, home made cookies or piece of Christmas Pudding over the Christmas period and have gained a few extra kilos, here are some facts about some of the health risks related to being overweight:

- diabetes

- gout

- sleep apnea (interrupted breathing during sleep)

- osteoarthritis

- this is the most important meal of the day and will significantly boost your metabolism. The majority of people who eat a healthy breakfast have fewer weight issues than those who don’t.
